A great gadget

You may not need to use this every single day, but when you do, you will be SO glad you have it. It works great on pitting cherries and olives. So well in fact, it was the entertainment of the moment w/family gathered around to see it in action b/c it's an unusual item and works so well. Don't buy olives from the can/jar anymore...the fresh, loose varieties are far better. Now you can improve your recipes with better taste and won't have to work hard at it. Recommend highly.

when you have young grandchildren, it is easier to use the cherry pitter in stead of cutting the seed out with a knife. great and quick

I bought this for my daughter who hates taking the pits out of the greek olives, I bought one for myself. its great I did a whole jar of olives with no stress in just a few minutes. 5 people who where at my house that day couldnt wait to get on line to order for not only them selves but other family members, I also know that I saw them in the store in the summer for $24.99 I saved 10 dollars on the two I bought.
Thank you

Because it is made of stainless steel, it is very strong and will probably last me forever. I don't have to worry about it rusting. I like it alot.

pits most olives with ease, but will not pit large green olives. ripe or black olives are no problem.

This product works as advertised. It does an excellent job of getting cherries ready for recipes or the kids. Do not wear a new shirt while you use it, sometimes cherry juice is sprayed while you are de-pitting. Also make sure the pit comes out, sometimes it sounds like the pit comes out but it just moves to the side. If it does just moves to the side, use the tool again to de-pit the cherry. I mostly use mine to de-pit a bunch of cherries to leave on a plate for my younger kids to eat at will.

With all the gadgets in my kitchen, I'm surprised I didn't get this one sooner. It really does a great job on cherries - so now I can give them to my toddler without cutting the pits out with a paring knife. wahoo! I haven't tried it on olives yet...I'm guessing it'll do just fine. (Though giant olives won't fit in it, I

It broke almost immediately

I was pitting cherries - there's no way that the pin should have dislodged so quickly. I called Cooking.com and without any hassle said they would send me out a new one.

I think they could have secured the pin better - when it was working, it was awesome.

A little hard with Kalamata olives, as they're narrow. Easy to use and accomodates larger olives and cherries.

The only thing I had any trouble with is pitting green olives. Other olives and cherries were a snap.

Pin tends to go off center and hits horseshoe shaped bracket.

I make a Greek pizza and use the pitter to release kalamata olive pits. I can do a few dozen olives in minutes. I recommend putting the olive and its pit vertical otherwise you will damage the olive and it takes longer.

It works well. However, pitting many cherries can be frustrating and timely.

This product really works! It's well constructed and does what it says it will do. I use it for greek olives from the deli that don't come pitted. Will now try some cherry recipes that were too much of a nuisance before.

This isn't a review- just a comment. I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet. I bought it to make cherry preserves later when cherry prices come down. It seems to be well made and sturdier than the plastic ones I've seen elsewhere.

by Bonnie, FL
September 19, 2009

This is the exact cherry pitter I was looking for. After letting my fingers do the walking through many websites, I found it on Cooking.com. Not only was it difficult to find the Leifheit pitter, but I was so happy to find it at a very reasonable price. {;.o)
