MOST HELPFUL REVIEWS
Fast and beautiful boiling
We bought this electric boiler for two reasons: we wanted quick boiling water for our busy mornings in the kitchen, and because it is visually appealing. You may find good boilers cheaper, but none as beautiful. It is fun to see the bubbles form on the metal dome and to see the water at a rolling boil (6 minutes for a full pot). We've been using it daily for about 6 weeks with no problems. The hard-water deposits that form inside come clean with a quick vinegar treatment outlined in the user guide.I recommend this product.
The plastic smell thankfully goes away
The glass water kettle is a pleasure to use and look at on the counter. The only negative has been the strong (plastic?) smell noted by numerous users. Fortunately after three weeks it has pretty much gone away.I recommend this product.
1.5-qt. Black H20 Plus Glass Water Kettle by
First, don't listen to the other reviewers who say the "plastic" smell never goes away. It is somewhat strong at first but I just boiled a few pots of water and it was greatly reduced. You are going to want to do this anyway when you first get it because it is so cool. Then, after about 5 days of normal use it was gone completely. We leave water in there pretty much all the time, so that may help too. The smell is probably from whatever they use to seal the Stainless heating element to the glass. It probably just takes a few heating cycles to fully cure it and remove residual solvents.
On to performance... This thing boils a full pot (6 cups) in 4 minutes. If you are looking to brew just a quick cup, it only takes 1 minute. When it finishes boiling, it shuts off automatically. If you come back later and want more, you just switch it back on and it quickly re-boils. There is no cord to get in your way when pouring, and it really looks great. I would buy it again... and again... and again.I recommend this product.

Fast Glass Water Kettle.
This water kettle works like gang busters. Yes, there is an initial silicone smell when it is first used. But I found that after a few heating cycles, plus a cap full of vanilla extract in between cycles (let it it for 12 hours), the smell all but vanished. The water itself was unaffected. The kettle looks great, heats fast, and is not all that noisy. If you read all of the instructions, there should be no problems. I'm giving it as a gift, so I "de-smelled" it ahead of time.I recommend this product.
