save your money
The cooker looked great and cooked well. But after a little over a year, the ceramic insert cracked. I had taken great care with the insert, never subjecting it to sudden temperature changes, treating it carefully when hand washing and drying it,etc. Yet one day, I spotted a crack that ran across and completely through the insert. Of course it was just after the warranty expired. And the cost of a new insert was more than $60. I did a little checking on line and discovered that many others had experienced the same problem, some repeatedly. So it didn't seem wise to buy another insert which would probably just crack as well. It was cheaper to buy a brand new slow cooker at less than $50 which has the same features at 1/4 the price of the All Clad. I suggest you save your money and buy something a lot less expensive and a lot more durable.

This slow cooker is highly efficient in the cooking process. In most cases the cooking is done before the assigned time. And I love the automatic switch to warm mode. The unit is well built and is larger than most slow cookers. The only issue I have is that the handle on the lid does get hot to the touch . I would have preferred the handle to be wrapped in a silicone covering so as not to have to use a potholder. If you have a family and use a slow cooker this is a very nice piece of kitchen equipment.

This is my first experience using a slow cooker, however, I fixed a pot roast and cooked the meat and vegetables for 8 hours. I bought a Top Sirloin Roast, approx 4lbs, actually, I should have chosen a boneless chuck roast for this. The meat was so dry, probably because I cooked it to "death", but the vegetables turned out beautiful, not mushy as I suspected they might. I was disappointed that the few (very few) recipes that came with the cooker were not enough and some of the recipes were not for everyday cooking. The ceramic insert is extremely heavy so be careful when carrying and washing it. But, all in all, I would highly recommend this slow cooker as is the All-Clad name for perfection. Just choose a different cut of meat and save the top sirloin for the oven.
