Customer Reviews

Excellent heating throughout

by Zoriana, IL
August 18, 2007

I purchased this based on a review by America's Test Kitchen and am happy I did. The price is reasonable for All-Clad ($145) and it works as noted. The difference between this one and my old crock-pot was this one has a countdown timer (the one with the delay timer is more expensive) and it keeps the temperature true for the duration. It also has a nice safety feature where it doesn't heat unless the crock is inserted.

Overall, very happy.

save your money

by Abby, VA
May 28, 2010

The cooker looked great and cooked well. But after a little over a year, the ceramic insert cracked. I had taken great care with the insert, never subjecting it to sudden temperature changes, treating it carefully when hand washing and drying it,etc. Yet one day, I spotted a crack that ran across and completely through the insert. Of course it was just after the warranty expired. And the cost of a new insert was more than $60. I did a little checking on line and discovered that many others had experienced the same problem, some repeatedly. So it didn't seem wise to buy another insert which would probably just crack as well. It was cheaper to buy a brand new slow cooker at less than $50 which has the same features at 1/4 the price of the All Clad. I suggest you save your money and buy something a lot less expensive and a lot more durable.

I like the size of the slow cooker but I wish I could change the temp for a shorter time then have it go to warm. For example I cooked a goulash on high for 5 hours then wanted to drop the temp to low for an hour, then have it go to warm to hold the food but the shortest time it will allow on low is 4 hours.

Flexiblity in Programming Falls Short

by Lillia, PA
January 3, 2008

I love the durability of this crockpot. The black crock is nice for serving from and can easily be moved to the refrigerator or dishwasher. The handles are in a good position (unlike my previous crockpot) so that you can move the whole appliance while it is hot without burning your knuckles on the sides. I like the Keep Warm feature that halts cooking but keeps the food warm after the programmed cooking time is done.

The one drawback I found that was not clear in the item description... there is no way to program the crockpot to cook on High for 2 hours and then turn itself down to cook on Low for the remaining time. There are many recipes that I use that could benefit from such flexibility. That and a delayed start time/clock feature would make this crockpot just about perfect. However, this is still this best one I found available.

Pricey, but excellant!

by cheryl, CA

After doing some research I had narrowed my choice for a new slow cooker down to either a kitchen aid or the all-clad. After reading several reviews on various other sites about the kitchen aid cookers crocks cracking for some reason and spilling the contents all over people's countertops, I decided to go with the all-clad. I made 4 or 5 dishes so far and I have been very happy with its performance. As for looks, well it's so beautiful it makes the rest of my kitchen look dingy. I told my husband I wanted to update all our appliances to match my beautiful new slow cooker!

The only drawback in my opinion is that there isn't a 4 quart model, the 6.5 quart is so large, and a lot of recipes call for the 4 qt. especially dessert recipes.

The slow cooker performs very well and is easy to set cooking time and temperature. The product is very heavy. After registering the product on line. I e-mailed All-Clad requesting verification the liner does not contain any lead. It has been 3 weeks and there has been no respnse to the e-mail inquiry.

First slow cooker I've owned

by Robert, IL
October 8, 2007

First try was a 4 1/2 lb. bottom roast in a bed of thin sliced onion with orange juice and chicken broth and dried cherries. Everybody thought I should have my own food channel show!!!! Can't wait to try a turkey breast. I could not recommend this item more for convenience and ease. Would make a great holiday or birthday present for somebody you know!

This item arrived dented, even though the external box was not damaged. From the feel of it, the outer jacket of the cooker is such thin stainless that anything could easily dent it at any time. Returned for refund

The unit works quite well, and is very efficient and easy to clean as well. I would ask that in the future, the controls be easier to read, as an older person, or someone with any sight problems, will have difficulty seeing them.

6.5 qt. slow cooker by All-Clad

by Jill, MN
October 21, 2007

Great product! It was recommended by Cook's Country magazine. I have used Rival and Hamilton Beach products in the past and this far surpasses their capabilities. I love the timer and keep warm features. You can set it and forget it and come home to a good home-cooked meal.

Feelin Guilty

by Brian, IN
November 18, 2008

I saw a review for the All-Clad slow cooker on Cook's Illustrated on PBS and I trust their reviews, but while the slow cooker is beautiful and works wonderfully, I feel like I probably shouldn't have spent so much on this product. I could have bought a much, much cheaper one and even if it had to be replaced every 4-5 years, I still would have felt I'd gotten my money's worth. Not sure I would do it again. It sure is pretty, though.

Nice alternative to cooking in an oven

by Scott, LA
August 25, 2008

This was a little bit expensive, but so far it has proven to be worth it. I have only used it twice so far, and it has worked well, and as promised. It is much better than cooking in an oven (at least for me), as you can watch your stuff cook, and you don't heat up your entire place. At first I worried that this was a little bit on the large size, but it is a good size for 6-8 chicken breasts, or a roast, with room to spare for potatoes, mushrooms, onions...you get the idea! And cleanup is very easy; I hand wash the ceramic liner, and put it in the dishwasher; same with the glass lid. That's it!

A little extravigant but worth it

by Joseph, ID
June 22, 2008

I bought this as a gift for my wife but also picked something that I would like as well. We had already looked at some less expensive "crock pots" but like the style of this to go with our black and stainless kitchen as well as the better timer functions this unit has. It is a highly reviewed by Cook's Illustrated and though it costs more than other choices, I think the premium is warranted for the features and quailty.

Excellent job in cooking process

by Beverly, KY
April 28, 2009

This slow cooker is highly efficient in the cooking process. In most cases the cooking is done before the assigned time. And I love the automatic switch to warm mode. The unit is well built and is larger than most slow cookers. The only issue I have is that the handle on the lid does get hot to the touch . I would have preferred the handle to be wrapped in a silicone covering so as not to have to use a potholder. If you have a family and use a slow cooker this is a very nice piece of kitchen equipment.

Fast & Easy!

by KATIE, PA
January 19, 2008

This is my first slow cooker, and I love it! I never realized how many course you can make in this, from soups, to dinners to desserts. You can make a quick meal or a more elaborate depending on how much time you want to put into it. The size allows for making as little or as much as is needed, and I can store extrsa for later or freeze it! The ceramic insert also allows for quick roasting of meats before slow cooking it fo more flavor too!

Well Made Crock Pot

by Mary Clare, IL
March 10, 2008

Although this might be one of the most expensive slow cookers on the market, it is extremely well made and a great value. It is easy to operate and does what it is supposed to do. The food tastes great.

I have used this product about 5 times now and each time the recipes turned out great. I particularly like the the feature that automatically turns the cooker on to warm when the cook time has completed. I would not buy another slow cooker unles it has that feature. Great product!

All Clad 6.5 cooker

by Mary, MO
November 10, 2008

I was a little worried about spending that much money on a slow cooker, but after use I know it is worth every penny. My slow cooker is attractive, cleans up to look like new, and my cooker is very user friendly.
My slow cooked dishes are better than ever!

Really like the cooker. It's a very simple device, but well made. I had hoped that a company like All-Clad would include a more robust recipe book (as they do with the cast iron Emeril pan). The booklet it comes with is pretty lightweight.

It would also be nice if there was an optional ceramic liner that was divided into two parts, so you could slow cook smalled qtys, or two different dishes.
