  • Excellent heating throughout

I purchased this based on a review by America's Test Kitchen and am happy I did. The price is reasonable for All-Clad ($145) and it works as noted. The difference between this one and my old crock-pot was this one has a countdown timer (the one with the delay timer is more expensive) and it keeps the temperature true for the duration. It also has a nice safety feature where it doesn't heat unless the crock is inserted.

    Overall, very happy.

    I recommend this product.

The cooker looked great and cooked well. But after a little over a year, the ceramic insert cracked. I had taken great care with the insert, never subjecting it to sudden temperature changes, treating it carefully when hand washing and drying it,etc. Yet one day, I spotted a crack that ran across and completely through the insert. Of course it was just after the warranty expired. And the cost of a new insert was more than $60. I did a little checking on line and discovered that many others had experienced the same problem, some repeatedly. So it didn't seem wise to buy another insert which would probably just crack as well. It was cheaper to buy a brand new slow cooker at less than $50 which has the same features at 1/4 the price of the All Clad. I suggest you save your money and buy something a lot less expensive and a lot more durable.

  • Flexiblity in Programming Falls Short

I love the durability of this crockpot. The black crock is nice for serving from and can easily be moved to the refrigerator or dishwasher. The handles are in a good position (unlike my previous crockpot) so that you can move the whole appliance while it is hot without burning your knuckles on the sides. I like the Keep Warm feature that halts cooking but keeps the food warm after the programmed cooking time is done.

The one drawback I found that was not clear in the item description... there is no way to program the crockpot to cook on High for 2 hours and then turn itself down to cook on Low for the remaining time. There are many recipes that I use that could benefit from such flexibility. That and a delayed start time/clock feature would make this crockpot just about perfect. However, this is still this best one I found available.

    I recommend this product.

  • This item arrived dented, even though the external box was not damaged. From the feel of it, the outer jacket of the cooker is such thin stainless that anything could easily dent it at any time. Returned for refund

  • Excellent job in cooking process

This slow cooker is highly efficient in the cooking process. In most cases the cooking is done before the assigned time. And I love the automatic switch to warm mode. The unit is well built and is larger than most slow cookers. The only issue I have is that the handle on the lid does get hot to the touch . I would have preferred the handle to be wrapped in a silicone covering so as not to have to use a potholder. If you have a family and use a slow cooker this is a very nice piece of kitchen equipment.

  • All-Clad Slow Cooker ( 6.5-qt).

This is my first experience using a slow cooker, however, I fixed a pot roast and cooked the meat and vegetables for 8 hours. I bought a Top Sirloin Roast, approx 4lbs, actually, I should have chosen a boneless chuck roast for this. The meat was so dry, probably because I cooked it to "death", but the vegetables turned out beautiful, not mushy as I suspected they might. I was disappointed that the few (very few) recipes that came with the cooker were not enough and some of the recipes were not for everyday cooking. The ceramic insert is extremely heavy so be careful when carrying and washing it. But, all in all, I would highly recommend this slow cooker as is the All-Clad name for perfection. Just choose a different cut of meat and save the top sirloin for the oven.

  • Fast Slow Cooking

As are my experiences with most All-Clad products, this 6.5-qt slow cooker is a winner. More expensive than others but it has the size and features that I was looking for in a slow cooker. Plenty of versatility including the removable ceramic insert. Specific to this product it's a winner. Generally, we have enjoyed the slow cooking experience.

  • 6.5qt slow cooker

I love my All-Clad slow cooker. The size is perfect for making BQ for a crowd. My only complaint is that it is so large making it heavy and difficult to clean in my kitchen sink. It's difficult to hold onto with soapy wet hands.

  • Great/attractive slow cooker

I bought this one for my mother after I had already purchased one last year. I have had no problems at all. It looks beautiful- I leave it out on my kitchen counter. The picture that cooking.com uses doesn't do it justice; in fact I was worried that it wasn't the same one. It is a gleaming stainless steel, not the pewter gray that it appears in the photo.(See the photo at Williams Sonoma, but costs less here.) I wanted to buy the one that has the aluminum core that can go on the stovetop that has a 7 qt. capacity, but reviewers said that the finish tended to bubble. So, I got this one since I knew it was reliable. Cooking.com shipped it quickly, and it was well packed. Good job.

  • First thing I made was a pot roast -- easy to do, tasted great! The slow cooking was worry free without overcooking the meat, which I am prone to do. It's much bigger than I expected, so storage is a problem, but the advantage is that I can cook a large amount then freeze in smaller quantities. Can't wait until my family arrives for the holidays -- plan on keeping the soup warm for when needed.

  • Great slow cooker

This is not a cheap slow cooker but it appears much more solidly made than most and has more insulation so the outside doesn't get so hot as some. The programming is simple and it works perfectly. My only gripe, like one or two others, is that the recipe book supplied is very slim indeed.

  • Feelin Guilty

I saw a review for the All-Clad slow cooker on Cook's Illustrated on PBS and I trust their reviews, but while the slow cooker is beautiful and works wonderfully, I feel like I probably shouldn't have spent so much on this product. I could have bought a much, much cheaper one and even if it had to be replaced every 4-5 years, I still would have felt I'd gotten my money's worth. Not sure I would do it again. It sure is pretty, though.

I was a little worried about spending that much money on a slow cooker, but after use I know it is worth every penny. My slow cooker is attractive, cleans up to look like new, and my cooker is very user friendly.

  • Worth every penny!

Beautiful and intelligent ... that's one way to describe the 6.5-qt. Slow Cooker by All-Clad. I am sincerely impressed at the quality and functionality of this slow cooker. This slow cooker is worth every penny. It delivers what it promises: programable, even heat to beautifully cook meats tender and juicy. The keep warm feature is a meal saver. Ceramic insert cleans beautifully in the dishwasher. This slow cooker is so attractive, it has a home on my kitchen counter and is used several times a week. All-Clad has done it again!

  • Nice alternative to cooking in an oven

This was a little bit expensive, but so far it has proven to be worth it. I have only used it twice so far, and it has worked well, and as promised. It is much better than cooking in an oven (at least for me), as you can watch your stuff cook, and you don't heat up your entire place. At first I worried that this was a little bit on the large size, but it is a good size for 6-8 chicken breasts, or a roast, with room to spare for potatoes, mushrooms, onions...you get the idea! And cleanup is very easy; I hand wash the ceramic liner, and put it in the dishwasher; same with the glass lid. That's it!

  • A little extravigant but worth it

I bought this as a gift for my wife but also picked something that I would like as well. We had already looked at some less expensive "crock pots" but like the style of this to go with our black and stainless kitchen as well as the better timer functions this unit has. It is a highly reviewed by Cook's Illustrated and though it costs more than other choices, I think the premium is warranted for the features and quailty.

I e-mailed All-Clad requesting verification the liner does not contain any lead. It has been 3 weeks and there has been no respnse to the e-mail inquiry.
