For home cooks who care about what they feed their families and want to stretch their dollars, this eagerly awaited debut cookbook from Melissa d’Arabian, host of Food Network's Ten Dollar Dinners and winner of The Next Food Network Star, makes good on the $10 promise of dinner for four.

With four young girls ages six and under, and a hit show on Food Network, Melissa d'Arabian focuses on savvy budgeting, efficient shopping, and full-flavored cooking. Ten Dollar Dinners has 140 recipes and more than 100 creative, practical tips on great money-savers (“Clear-Your-Pantry Week”); inventive takes on old standby dinners (try her Moroccan Meatloaf); and how to get ingredients to last longer (keep your green onions in a glass of water and they will re-grow several times over!). And with a coding system to help you create your own $10 menu, Ten Dollar Dinners celebrates spending with purpose, cooking with love, minimizing time spent in front of the stove, and savoring your homemade meal.

Melissa is a pro at creating satisfying meals that adults and kids alike will enjoy, using everyday ingredients, transforming them into delicious dinners: Her Potato Bacon Torte (which, at 50 cents a serving, was one of her winning recipes on The Next Food Network Star) shows how basic and inexpensive grocery store ingredients can be turned into an amazingly satisfying dish. Her Roasted Vegetable Tian is a great way to take advantage of deals in the produce aisle. The 4-Step Chicken offers a plan for getting food on the table in just minutes, using almost anything in the pantry.

Anyone can use this book, especially those who want to save money and feel great about cooking sensibly for elevated, simple meals that are healthy family-pleasers.

On her daytime cooking series, season five winner of The Next Food Network Star and stay-at-home mom, Melissa d'Arabian, shows viewers how to incorporate creative and tasty meals into their budgets by sharing her tried-and-true recipes. With countless tips to save time and money in the kitchen, she keeps her $10 promise in every episode: four people, ten bucks, infinite possibilities. From approachable Parisian and Moroccan menus to sophisticated upgrades for everyday chicken and pork, Ten Dollar Dinners with Melissa d'Arabian demonstrates home cooking at its finest.

Not practical for the simple guy!

by William, PA

I enjoy watching Malissa so much on the Food network. So much of what she prepares seems very practical. I must admit, I was somewhat disappointed with her 1st recipe book. I thought it would be filled with the practical and simple recipes that she prepares on her show. Instead, it seems to me that many of the recipes are elaborate and sophisticated, not made for the average amateur cook like myself. That's just my opinion!

One Problem

I love all the budget friendly recipes. The finished product photos are great and I enjoy the family photos also. The price was incredible for a cookbook. My only disappointment, which is huge to me, is that the recipes do not contain the nutritional information I need to follow my diet restrictions. With this information on everything you buy I was surprised and disappointed that it was not listed for the recipes.

Great cookbook

I love this cookbook. I enjoy watching Melissa so I do favor her but the recipes are great. I have so many recipes marked off to try. I am really happy that she included her potato bacon torte recipe, I have been making that for my family ever since it was on her show. It is a great recipe, the book is worth just that recipe. Melissa's recipes are easy and always come out great. Keep up the amazing work and I look forwarded to learning from Melissa for many more years. Just a suggestion but I think Melissa should do a cookbook of meals that are more than 10.00. since her recipes are so wonderful I can't imagine if she was able to go outside the price limit. But for anyone thinking of getting her cookbook it is well worth the price.

Fantastic cookbook. Enjoy the cookbook as much as Melissa's show. Love the pictures and stories of Melissa's family, too. So far, we've tried 4 recipes in 2 weeks, and we've loved them all. Ultimately, I want to try them all!
