Not practical for the simple guy!

I enjoy watching Malissa so much on the Food network. So much of what she prepares seems very practical. I must admit, I was somewhat disappointed with her 1st recipe book. I thought it would be filled with the practical and simple recipes that she prepares on her show. Instead, it seems to me that many of the recipes are elaborate and sophisticated, not made for the average amateur cook like myself. That's just my opinion!

Easy to read and clear instructions

There are lots of recipes and it is very easy to read, easy on the eyes, and the instructions are very clear. Good tips too.

One Problem

I love all the budget friendly recipes. The finished product photos are great and I enjoy the family photos also. The price was incredible for a cookbook. My only disappointment, which is huge to me, is that the recipes do not contain the nutritional information I need to follow my diet restrictions. With this information on everything you buy I was surprised and disappointed that it was not listed for the recipes.

Great cookbook

I love this cookbook. I enjoy watching Melissa so I do favor her but the recipes are great. I have so many recipes marked off to try. I am really happy that she included her potato bacon torte recipe, I have been making that for my family ever since it was on her show. It is a great recipe, the book is worth just that recipe. Melissa's recipes are easy and always come out great. Keep up the amazing work and I look forwarded to learning from Melissa for many more years. Just a suggestion but I think Melissa should do a cookbook of meals that are more than 10.00. since her recipes are so wonderful I can't imagine if she was able to go outside the price limit. But for anyone thinking of getting her cookbook it is well worth the price.

Fantastic cookbook. Enjoy the cookbook as much as Melissa's show. Love the pictures and stories of Melissa's family, too. So far, we've tried 4 recipes in 2 weeks, and we've loved them all. Ultimately, I want to try them all!

Not What I expected for Ten Dollar Dinners.

I live in the south and I can't find half of the ingredients that the book calls for. I was able to get a few recipes from it, but not much. The recipes are just not for my life style.

I have returned the book. It is a beautiful and well done book but the recipes do not fit my family and cooking habits. I was disappointed.

Novice cook

I was disappointed that there weren't more pictures of the finished products. Since I am very new to cooking, it's nice to see a picture, even if it is a small one, to see what the food is supposed to look like. More pictures next time, please!

Just received the book today - it's great! Got 2 of them for my 2 granddaughters, but think I may have to order another one for me. I really enjoy her show and have printed off receipes from the internet.

Recipes you will actually make!

We always watch Melissa's TV show, and have prepared numerous of the recipes she has made on the show, always enjoying the same. We looked forward to having hard copies of her TV recipes, and a lot more--and they are all found in her cook book. The book is a nice product with excellent pictures and printed on good quality paper. Definitely a worthwhile purchase we plan on using often.

Great go-to cookbook for family meal planning

I enjoyed her tips and hints in the cookbook. I have taken up the challenge of saving as much money as I can when planning our meals. Who knew it could be so fun! The inclusion of recipes from her travel experiences is especially brilliant! I have two young kids at home and miss traveling. The recipes are easy to replicate.

nutritious, easy and economical recipes

The book was an easy read...simple, fun and interesting recipes that didn't break the budget. Loved the family photos included...felt like Melissa brought you into her world to share some great food! Melissa's brief explanations at the start of most recipes made the recipes spring to life and made you want to try them! In just a short time, Melissa's cookbook has become one of my favorites in my collection. Look forward to trying many of her wonderful recipes. Thanks Melissa and co-writer, and thanks Food Network!

Great purchase

I had been waiting impatiently for Melissa's first cookbook, and what a gem it is! When it was offered at such a great price, with free shipping, I figured it would be a small item with just a few recipes. When it arrived it was a big surprise. It had a lot ofngreat recipes, great pictures, lots of good ideas. I I'll be using this a lot. I have already ordered another as a gift. Ruth Harthun

Family Focus

I loved the family focus of the cookbook with all the pictures of the her husband and most of all the happy pictures of the children. All in all the receipes are easy to follow, the pictures, and various notes about her life made this an exceptional value. I am very glad I purchased it and hope she publishes more with her various ethnic experiences.
