DISAPPOINTED!

by Susan, MI
July 2, 2008

We bought the Food Network stainless pans at Kohls.Only the non-stick Food Network pans had a stainless steel steamer sold with them.We tried to buy one but none available for sale at Kohls or online. We tried this "Universal" steamer but it doesn't fit the Food Network pans.Still can't understand why we can't buy a Food Network stainless steamer for our pans! We didn't want the non-stick pans and that's the only way the stainless steamer is sold. Not sure we understand that. We love our new pans but are disappointed about the steamer. We have returned it for a refund.

Smaller than I thought it would be ( I now have to find a pot/saucepan that it will fit) however, it is very sturdy and feels like it will last at least 6 years.
I would love to get one in a bigger size though!

Good product, although pricey

I am very pleased with my steamer, although I do feel that it is rather expensive as an accessory product. I really like my Calphalon cookware, and didn't want to ruin it with cheap metal steamer insesrts that sit on the bottom of the pan. I didn't see any other options but to buy this product. I am glad I have it, and it's a good size for steaming lots of produce. Interestingly enough, although I have a set of cookware, it only fits one of my pots. If you steam a lot of veggies, and don't want to ruin your cookware, it's a must and worth the extra money.

It is universal. It fits tight on the three sized pots for which it was made. It is quality stainless steel and is designed large enough to steam lobsters, salmon, and vegetables. The glass lid is not fragil and can sustain some banging up. It is a great choice.

It works real well, I just wish it had a matching stainless steel Calphalon pot.

Great solid steamer. A bit overpriced but you are paying for the name.

Does not match

by anne, NY
March 28, 2012

I purchased this to accompany a 13-piece set of calphalon tri-ply stainless i recently purchased. It only fits in one of the pans in the set, the largest set available, even though it is designed to fit multiple pans and consequently has an odd shape. Also, although it is described as calphalon tri-ply stainless steel, the shape of the handles and lid are different than the other items in my set. I'm very disappointed, and sad this is the only option to have a steamer insert with these pans.

Actual Size not as description shown online

I thought it was bigger in size and would fit most of my other Calphalon products but in reality it only fit the smaller sauce pans

This is just what I needed. It is a good size and allows me to steam without pulling out my ultra-large steaming pot. Highly recommend this piece.

Stainless Steel Universal Steamer

by HELYNN, FL
April 12, 2011

I bought this steamer for my daughter since she needed a bigger one for a family of four. She tried it in her new Calphalon SS pans and it fits in a couple of them. (too tall for the shallow 21/2 qt.saucepan, doesn't fit tightly in the 3 qt. chef's pan). She uses it daily and is very happy with it. Good price too!!

Good Steamer

by Susan, VI
April 15, 2011

I've steamed salmon with mounds of watercress, large quantities of asparagus and beans, pumpkin, butternut squash -- you name it. My only complaint is that it is not non-stick. Some fish always sticks to the bottom, so a little cooking spray is recommended. Otherwise, it does any job satisfactorily.

wobbles

by Joan, PA
July 26, 2011

My opinion: cannot get it to fit a Calphalon pan. Insert is much lighter than my All Clad steamer. Wobbles, steam comes out the sides. So sorry I bought this.

Universal Steamer

by Jacqueline, AZ
February 21, 2012

I'm enjoying the steamer; however, I am using it with a sauce pan from an old cookware set. I wish Calphalon made a Simply Calphalon 4 qt. sauce pan.

Easy to use.

by Sungmi, MA
December 24, 2012

When I choose this steamer, this product is in tri-ply category. So I ordered this to fit other my tri-ply calphalon set. But exterior is totally different and a little bit small. Size is not that big concern to me. If the handle of lid and steamer is the same with Tri-ply set, it would be better.
