If you've got four minutes to spare, then you've got time to make homemade waffles thanks to the Krups WaffleChef Belgian Waffle Iron. The indicator light near the cool-touch handle alerts you when the Belgian waffle iron is ready to use, and the nonstick surface easily releases the waffles for a beautiful presentation every time. Use your favorite waffle batter recipe, or flex your culinary chops and try a new one from the included recipe booklet. This waffle iron makes four golden waffles at a time--top them with melted butter and warm syrup, or fresh strawberries and whipped cream for a special treat. Caring for your Krups waffle iron is easy; it just requires a quick wipe with a soft damp cloth after each use. Tuck the cord into the hidden storage area and close the latch on the handle to keep the unit closed, clean and ready for your next waffle-making session. My daughter has the 2-waffle version of this Belgian Waffle Maker. It makes terrific waffles, but the capacity of 2 waffles at a time makes it difficult to feed a large breakfast crowd in a short time, so I purchased the larger waffle iron. In 4 minutes, I have 4 waffles and in less than 15 minutes, I have enough tasty waffles to satisfy everyone at the breakfast table! The iron browns both sides of the waffles beautifully - dark golden crust on the outside, tender and moist on the inside - and the 1-inch depth insures plenty of pockets to hold butter and maple syrup. I will admit that the first batch stuck to the bottom of the iron, but a quick spritz with cooking oil solved that issue. I've used this iron so often that it is now well-seasoned and waffles no longer stick. It heats rapidly, cooks evenly and the upright storage feature makes it a perfect fit in my cabinet.
I purchased this waffle iron because we love waffles. My old iron lasted 15 years but only made a single waffle. I was forever getting food to the table.
This iron makes four delicious serving at a time. I love it. The waffles are crisp and tender. Easy to clean. I often add fruit to the batter and use yogurt as a sauce. Compliments from all ages. Extra waffles are great re-heated in the toaster. I highly recommend this machine.
I'd never eaten home-made waffles before I purchased this unit. I've had the frozen kind, and was never very impressed. My wife loves home-made Belgian waffles, and I like to please her, so I searched for a waffle maker that I thoiught I could trust. The KRUPS waffle maker had the combination of price, features, simplicity, and reputation I was looking for, so I took a chance on it.
It took a little practice to make a good waffle with this unit - the included instruction/recipe book is nice, but it doesn't give you any idea of how much to put into the plates before you close it up. We went back and forth between a little dollap in the center to WAY overfilling the plate before we finally figured it out. Once I got that far, it cooked the waffles very evenly no matter how much I under-or-over filled, so we never had the problem of raw middle and burned exterior - everything was evenly cooked throughout.
I really like the vertical storage. Great space-saver. Overall, this waffle maker really lives up to the KRUPS reputation. I'd recommend this unit any time.
This is sturdy and the waffles are deep. I have only used it for one batch. It is very easy to clean. I do not like that it is heavy, the open-latch sticks a little. It is difficult to tell when the waffles are done and whether one has filled it with enough batter. I am going to practice a little because I think it probably has more to do with me than the iron.
We absolutely LOVE this waffle iron. This is not a tiny little cheapo! Makes big waffles and cooks them consistently. Wanted one made specifically for waffles (not a 3 in 1) and got just what we wanted. Only drawback is the handle is hot when you are cooking so use a hot pad when opening.
Pros: *Huge cooking surface. One batch of alton brown waffles is only three rounds of waffles! *Great heat capacity, toasts waffles well without burning. *Although huge, it stores well as it can stand vertically. *I really like the yeast and baking soda based waffles I have made so far! Have not tried fruit yet though.
Cons: *Somewhat difficult to fill because it is so big. *About as difficult to clean as previous models I've used. (use a brush!) *Handle is pretty hot.
We were given a Krups Waffel Iron last year and by some horrible experience we dropped it.(boo Hoo). We tried to find another but to no avail soooo we bought another make waffle Iron. We were very disappointed in the finished waffle and also the price. We gave that one awasy and realized we could get the Krups waffle Iron on line. We are having wonderful waffels again. Try to keep Krups in the stores as well as on line. Kaye Warren
