This was a birthday present for my son-in-law. He loves to cook in the kitchen and my daughter 'helps' out. He used to use her coffee grinder to smash his spices but now he is delighted with this mortar and pestle set.

Haven't had a chance to use the mortar and pestle yet. The end of the pestle is interesting in that it's rough. Feel that will be an asset in grinding my herbs. Love the size and look of the product sitting on my granite counter top.

Not what it looks like

I had presumed with the picture that the whole thing was procelain only to open it up and find out the inside was sandy and grainy. I have seen them that they are all porcelain but this is not. The item is being returned.
