This is truly the supreme bread machine! The Zojirushi offers advanced options for your bread baking. It gives you the choice of using the dough cycle by itself, then finishing in your regular oven. In addition, you can make dough for crisp pizza crust, light dinner rolls, mouth-watering cinnamon rolls, hamburger or hoagie buns, artisan breads, sourdough, gluten-free breads and cakes - the possibilities are endless. It even makes fruit jam and has the power and durability for hearty whole grain dough. Twin paddles provide superior kneading action so you get well-raised breads with great texture.

To use, simply place your unmixed ingredients in and choose your setting. The machine alerts you once your bread is ready. The control panel is set at the perfect angle for easy viewing, and the bigger-than-ever window lets you see what's happening inside. With this model, you can open the lid during operation, for adding fruits and nuts without resetting the cycle (it keeps running with the lid open). Choose from a full set of pre-programmed cycles for a variety of breads or create your own custom cycles. You can also program in your own favorite recipes for later use. Recipe & instructions booklet included.

I have been using bread machines for many years and decided this time to buy what I thought was the top of the line. It is ok but really not any better than the Breadman machines I have had in the past and not worth twice the price. The breads often come out uneven on the top and with the two large holes on the bottom, not the most eye appealing. Although I have my own recipes from previous machines, I have been using their recipes but one would expect more and better recipes in their pamphlet.

Best Bread Machine Ever!

by Carole, TX
January 15, 2007

I normally don't take the time to write reviews, but this bread machine is so awesome I feel I must take the time to write something. This is another great product by the Zojirushi Corporation. (I also own one of their rice cookers, and that and this bread machine are my favorite appliances to play with.)

So far I have cheated and only used pre-mixed bread machine mixes. I look forward to making a loaf from scratch this week. But comparing the loaves I've made (white bread, raisin bread and hawaiian sweet bread) that came out of the Zojirushi to the same loaves that came out of my old Panasonic, the Zojirushi wins in a landslide! No more hard-as-a-rock crusts. No more odd-shaped loaves. No more 4-hour baking time. The Zoji crusts came out P.E.R.F.E.C.T. The loaves are shaped like a loaf should look. And the regular baking cycle is 3.5 hours. (There's also a quick baking cycle, but I prefer not to fast-track my bread.)

I look forward to forming an intimate relationship with this machine. It is so easy to use and I am so happy with the results. Can't wait to make

Overrated

I really wanted this breadmaker to work, so ignored some of the other poor reviews. I like the paddle system - it mixes well. Theoretically, the shape of the pan would give you a nice, somewhat standard shaped loaf. The baking of the bread is the problem. On the dark setting, the crust is really dark, practically burnt. On the light setting, the lower crust is still dark and the top of the loaf is splotchy, undercooked in some spots and okay in others. I now use it to make the dough and bake it in the oven. I should have spent the $200 on a kitchenaid stand mixer instead.

There is nothing like fresh bread!

by Christine, NJ

This is our first bread machine and believe me the smell of fresh bread permeates our kitchen at least three times a week. It is easy to use, easy to clean, and the recipes are easy to prepare. You can make delicious thick-sliced French toast; tasty herb breads for eating and using the leftovers for homemade croutons and bread crumbs; delicious cheese breads, sweet breads for breakfast, etc. If you don’t have a bread machine yet, I suggest purchasing the 2-lb. This bread maker is easy to use and makes great basic white loaf of bread. I have tried several other kinds of wheat bread but they do not seem to come out as nice as the basic breads. It makes great dough for pizza but have not yet tried the cakes. It is large, so you do need to have some extra counter space. I think the price is steep and at this point am not sure if it was worth the price.

We have used bread machines for over 20 years, and the Zojirushi is the best. So far, we have made six breads from your Home Bakery Supreme Operating Instructions & Recipes booklet and also several that we have used for years in other units. All of the breads have turned out perfectly, and we really do love this machine.

Best Bread machine

by Helen, IL
May 7, 2008

This is by far the best bread machine. I have had many different machines, but all failed w/in 2-3 years. As far as I can tell, this machine will last a long time. What makes it even better is that they have replacement parts!

My first bread machine... INCREDIBLE! I would advise anybody to spend the extra money for this one, rather than risking a disappointment with a lesser model. I immediately bought one for my mother, too, and am influencing most friends into doing the same.
The quality of the dough and breads is excellent. Maybe it's the last drop of romanticism in me, but I am moved by the joy of making my own bread (well, although helped by a machine... but it's my own machine, in my kitchen, with my ingredients and the aroma in the house is all mine too!).
Advice #1: The very first time, do not experiment: just make the easiest most basic kind of bread according to the recipe in the machine's instruction booklet
Advice #2: Immediately after that, buy a comprehensive book of bread machine recipes (I have found truly wonderful Beth Hensperger's

Over priced and under performance

by Clarice, MN

I think the Zorjirushi bread maker is too expensive for the results I have gotten so far. The bread was disappointing to us. The bottom and lower crust areas were over dry and crumbly like over done toast and it never rose as high as in the pictures. The lower half of the loaf is denser and heavier than the top part. I still haven't been able to adjust the crust control.
I will use it a few more times before I give up. All my flour and yeast were freshly bought so that isn't the problem. I have been trying whole wheat breads and cracked wheat breads. The only thing that was good so far was using the dough program. That worked well and made excellent sweet rolls.

A great product. Right out of the box perfect bread. Loafs look lopsided in the pan when neading but level out great in the baking mode. This was a replacement for a Welbilt machine that I had for 7 years and was terrific, but died of old age. The Zojirushi is quieter and faster than my old machine and has a memory backup for power failer that all machines should have. This is a great machine and I would recommend it to anyone.

Bought this wonderful machine about three weeks ago and have baked 18 loaves of bread. We prefer Donna German's recipe #1 for 100-percent whole wheat bread in her book, The Bread Machine Cookbook. Using King Arthur flours, I bake delicious, nutritious bread every time for family and friends. The Regal machine we used for nine years has found a permanent space in storage. Finally, the traditional horizontal loaf this machine produces has eye-appeal and taste-appeal. Meatloaf and pretzels are the next projects.

I did consderable research before purchasing this machine and it really paid off. The Zojirushi is wonderful. Our very first loaf of bread was superb and now we are into using many of the special features such as programming it to use our own recipes. We especially like using the "dough" setting to have the machine do all the mixing, kneading and rising but then being able to shape the bread and finish baking in the oven.

Read past reviews before purchasing

by Lee, NY
October 7, 2009

I read a lot of positive and negative reviews of this Breadmaker before the purchase. All I can tell you is that this is the fourth Breadmaker my wife has owned and it has worked perfectly on every loaf she has made to date. It is very simple to use and is very quiet. We are completely satisfied so far.

Wow!...I love my new Zojirushi!...It's so QUIET! (I have had 4 or 5 other bread makers before this one and they were all TOO noisy.) And with the 2 paddles, and what I understand to be a stronger motor than their last model, IT MIXES VERY quickly & EFFICIENTLY, EVEN WHOLE-GRAIN BREADS without a life & death struggle!. (Making whole-grain breads is no doubt what has finished off some of my other bread makers.) And I am SO HAPPY to have a standard shaped loaf of bread again. (The only machine I had that was horizontal before could not handle whole grain breads at all; its drive belt kept coming off, so I had to give it up on it.) The whole Zojirushi machine is obviously very solidly constructed. I expect it to outlast all the others. And that would make it a very good investment indeed! Oh, and it bakes very evenly. The recipe book is good, too, and really educates you about what's going on when and also lets you program 3 of your own programs, which is really nice. Happy in California. :) LJN

The paddles stick inside the bread, and tear the bread when you take it out of the pan. I have an old machine by Zojirushi that has a release button that works great, so the paddle does not stick, why could'nt they have put one in the newer model? That is my main complaint. I always use the dough setting, let the bread rise once more in a standard bread pan and bake in the oven. It turns out great that way.

All loaves of bread came out with crusts ezxtremely hard and the center of the loaf uncooked. Great maching for making dough only.

I just got this machine for Christmas, so I'm by no means an expert, yet. However, I already made some sourdough bread for my boyfriend and he loved it! I am a lowcarber, and make all of my own bread, pizza dough, etc. so a bread machine is real help in the kitchen.
The feature that seemed so trivial - the window in the top - is SO helpful for sourdough. My starter isn't always the same consistency - sometimes wetter than others. Being able to watch the process, I was able to add a little more water to make the dough form in the right way.
The one thing I do need to learn is when to go in and level out the dough. One side of the sourdough loaf I made was a little shorter than the other, but I think I can easily correct that.
My only wish is that the non-stick coating were less fragile. It's too easy to damage it - but I'm trying my best to be careful! I only have a small scratch on the top of the bread pan. Hopefully, it will remain an "only child"...

Worth the money

by B, TX

We have owned two bread makers before the Zo. This is truly the best.
With this one we make only whole grain breads. They rise beautifully, and the times we've used the time delay bake, we have happily been awakened to the smell of bread baking for breakfast.
