The only recommendation I have is that the instructions for setting the clock are not clear that the time entered must be six digits, hh:mm:ss.

This is my absolute favorite timer, and I've tried a lot of them!! It's small, comfortable, easy to use, and loud enough to hear. I usually hang it around my neck on the cord; never have overcooked pasta or burned bread anymore, because I hear the beep! The narrow shape also fits well in pockets (especially in my vests & light jackets). I use it daily to time various things I'm not too thrilled about doing (like allowing 5 minutes to clean up the bathroom, 15 minutes in the kitchen, 15 minutes out in the yard...) or to allow myself 20 minutes to drink some tea and check my emails. The timer keeps me moving!

This is my favorite product that I've bought recently. I'm very bad about putting something in the oven or on the stove and going to another part of the house. I can't hear the timer on the stove from other rooms and when I get involved doing something else I forget. This product is great because you just hang it around your neck and take it with you. No more forgetting.

I was expecting a timer that had multiple settings, so am quite disappointed in this product. The description of the product upon first reviewing it, appeared to be just what I wanted. When I went back after the receiving the product, I realized that I had misunderstood the description. My fault, but also partially the way it was written.

Great timer with both a neck cord and a magnet, can be used anywhere. Buttons are a little small but I would want a 5 pound timer hanging around my neck, Easy portability makes it nice for outside chores, timing watering devices, etc. I already have one and bought this one as a gift.

One big flaw

by Fern, CA
September 15, 2007

It is too easy to interrupt the timer function by hitting the yellow button inadvertently. There is a beep when you hit the button to alert you. But, if you are in a noisy situation, you can miss the beep. Then later you realize the timer is not counting down. Annoying.

Very handy product for race committee operations in sailing regattas, perfect for tracking the starting sequence, GPS tiime, or elapsed time between finishers in PHRF (handicap) fleets. The instrument also has a wide range of applications in other areas of everyday and hobby activities. I am very pleased with this product.

Convenient Little Timer

by LeNore, CO
February 29, 2008

I love this timer because I can wear it around my neck and not forget about what I have in the oven! It works wonderfully. The only caution I would have is that the buttons are very small so it may not work for someone with larger fingers or who has vision problems.

LOVE Timer (w/directions for setting clock)!

by Marshall, CA
January 31, 2011

I first saw this timer on America's Test Kitchen's (think Consumer Reports for foodies) and they gave it their highest rating. After reading some of the other product reviews, I was a little concerned about the difficulty people had experienced in setting the clock feature, but I decided to go ahead and place the order. I'm so glad I did! I'm a stay-at-home homeschooling mother and avid "cook" and this timer has been wonderful for keeping me and my family on track. My family, in fact, laughs at me because I wear it around the house all the time so I can use it for timed tests (stopwatch feature is nice here, too), when I have something in the oven or on the stovetop, or even when I'm doing laundry and need to be reminded to check on a permanent press item in the dryer. I can't say enough good about this item.

As for the clock, the directions for setting it are cleverly (or not-so-cleverly as the case may be) hidden between the plastic packaging sleeves and I honestly would NOT have figured out how to set it w/o them. So, for those of you who purchased this and didn't find the directions, here they are, step by step:
1. Press 12hr=24hr button (on the back of the unit) to switch between 12 hour and 24 hour settings.
2. Press and hold CLOCK button until display disappears (about 3 seconds).
3. Press START/STOP to switch between AM and PM.
4. Press the number keys "0" through "9" to actual time. Press CLEAR in an incorrect number is selected. NOTE: for the hours between 1 and 9, "0" must be entered before selecting the hour. (i.e. 9:00 should be entered 09:00).
(Note that the seconds must also be set in order for the clock to function.)

Hope this helps someone! Enjoy... ;-)

Great Timer

by Suecarol, VA

This timer is just a great convenience. The directions were extremely easy to follow. It is nice to be able to be anywhere in the house or garden and be able to wear a light-weight timer around your neck to help you stay on top of what needs to come out of the oven or come off the stove. I no longer feel like I am going to miss hearing the conventional timer I used to use. It also has a magnet on the back so you can store it out in the open where it will show you the current time.

Go anywhere timer and clock

I originally purchased one of these about 3 years ago and my puppy chewed it up, even so it worked, but he cracked the window where you view the time and I finally got around to replacing it because I could not find anything on the market that I liked as well. I can put something on the stove or in the oven, set the time and put it around my neck or in my pocket and go about my business till the alarm goes off. I use it for all sorts of things, really glad I replaced it, good bargain for the money.

great timer for busy cooks

by Erika, CO
September 13, 2008

I bought this for my stepmother who would put things in the oven, then walk away to do laundry or clean up around their place. She wouldn't hear the timer on the stove or microwave and lost a couple of dishes to being overcooked.

It took her just a little bit of time to figure out how to use and she's been delighted with it ever since. Pop food in the oven, set the timer, hang it around her neck and off she goes! great tool for all those who multi-task.

Handy Timer

by Ann, WI
October 8, 2008

I ordered this timer for use in my kindergarten classroom. It has performed well. I like that it is lightweight and on a string. I wear it everyday and use it to keep track of a variety of deadlines and tasks. If you accidentally bump a button, it does beep, but you can easily set it back to the previous setting. When you set the clock initially, don't forget to program hours, minutes and seconds (00:00:00) for a total of six digits.
I am considering ordering a second one for my assistant to use.

I love the timer. It is very easy to use. I wanted to be able to set it for 30 seconds for exercise purposes and was able to do this. The beeps are very loud which allows you to be in another room and you can still hear the signal. I may buy a second one.

Design of the Clock, Timer, & Stopwatch

by Karen, IL
February 15, 2007

I like to be able to set a timer in minutes without going through all of the minutes of an hour. The simple, but efficient, design of this timer is nice. My husband uses it as an alarm clock because it is easy to use. I use it more for timing in exercising and cooking. You can set it down to the second if you need to do so. It is easy to read and set. With the attached string, you are not committed to carrying the timer by hand with you because you can wear it temporarily or all of the time. If you are called to a different part of the house to do something else, you know how much longer you have before you have to go back to whatever it is that you are timing. It is light weight. I like it.

Good design; execution is mixed.

by Gregory, NY

The timer seems to work well. It is easy to use, and the beep was loud enough to be heard some feet away. It has a magnet on the back, which is very useful for placing the timer on one's refrigerator. Unfortunately, the glue holding the timer to the magnet is not strong enough, and the timer came off when I closed the refrigerator door. Fortunately, it still works, but now I have to put it in a less convenient place.

A real bomb

by Doris, TN
July 18, 2007

This item is a big disappointment. I was so anxious to get it to use at night to wake me up at odd hours. We, nor anyone we've asked, has been able to set it correctly and the instructions were of no assistance. So, it's lying in the junk drawer in the kitchen.
