Butter falls down into water. Too hot in Fl. I change cold water every day, even tried using ice cubes.
No matter how small an amount of water I put in the bottom, under the recommended 1/3 cup the buter part is still in the water
This is a very good idea and works most the time. My only suggestion is make sure the bell is full of butter otherwise I have found if its half full it will fall out into the water.

I am enjoying using the Butter Bell Crock. I think it is attractive. It keeps butter fresher but also, I find it deters spoiled cats from sneaking on the table to get a quick lick around the cover of a traditional butter dish when it is left on the table to keep it soft.
I was very impressed with the butter bell crock. Easy to use, cute on the dinner table, no messy butter dishes and when turn around it has a steady bottom. To load it we simply wait until the bell is empty, then take a stick of soften butter, unwrap it, save the waxed paper, place one end on the bell and a with the waxed paper squish the butter into the bell to make it fit. Smooth the butter at the top of the bell with the waxed paper and that's it. No mess! Very easy and the butter is ready to spread and soft but not melted. I definitely recommend it.
Hunkier, chunkier, much heavier than Tremain butter bell crocks that I bought in the past for myself & as gifts. I'm not happy, putting this new bigger item on my table; it seems to be aimed as a functional kitchen item. And it's hard on hands. Too bad. Color is good; nice & clear. That's nice. But overall, a disappointment. I'll go on using my old butter bell crock whenever possible & just have the new for a backup.
I had a regular glass butter dish with a top that I kept on the counter. As the butter was used, the glass dish got sloppy and too slippery to lift the top off. The butter bell is neat, clean, simple, attractive, and zero mess. It keeps the butter at a perfect spreadable temperature. I'm thinking about buying another one.
I have always keep my butter out to insure softness and spreadability. Have worried that it may go "bad" in the summer/hotter months. This crock is a fantastic way to prevent butter from turning rancid. Keeps it soft but also fresh. Great item!
