This is a very good idea and works most the time. My only suggestion is make sure the bell is full of butter otherwise I have found if its half full it will fall out into the water.

This is actually the third butter bell I have bought and given away as gifts. My BFF was over a few weeks ago and she was just raving about mine so this last order placed was for her birthday. I highly recommend it and rest assured if anything happens to mine I will definitely be ordering another. I love this butter bell. It is the first one I've ever owned, but I love it. My hubby and I were looking for butter dishes and we came across this and decided to buy this rather than a butter dish. It is great having fresh softened butter for toast rather than buying margarine or other butter substitutes.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this. Have wanted one for a long time. Finally ordered along with 2 others for Xmas gifts. I was so happy with mine that I couldn't wait. I've given them already!!

I've wanted one of these for a while and finally purchased one in red. So glad I did. I now have soft, spreadable butter and it looks great with my kitchen decor.
